Description:
Located off scenic Chuckanut Drive near the Whatcom/Skagit County border, Larrabee State Park offers a tidal and wooded wilderness just minutes south of Bellingham. Established in 1915 as Washington's first state park, Larrabee is also one of the largest -- spanning 2,683 acres, from sea level to 1,940 feet elevation, and occupies most of the west side of Chuckanut Mountain.

Visitors to Larrabee may participate in various forms of recreation, including picnicking (67 picnic sites); boating (including a boat launch); fishing, clamming and crabbing (permits required); hiking (9.3 miles of trails); camping (53 standard sites, 8 walk-in and 26 trailer-hookup sites); water skiing and scuba diving. Larrabee also has an amphitheater, large fields and other day-use amenities. However, most people visit Larrabee to explore the beach -- the rocky shoreline is famous for its many tide pools packed with aquatic life.

More adventurous types can hike a few miles up Chuckanut Mountain to Fragrance and Lost Lakes. The route up to these areas boasts three lookout sites featuring sweeping views of the San Juan Islands and Rosario Strait. Camping and fresh-water fishing is allowed at the lakes, but be sure to verify whether campfires are permitted at the time you visit and that anglers are carrying their fishing licenses.

I am a Park Aide at Larrabee, and there is no camping at either lake, but they are both beautiful lakes and worth the hike.

Is there a place to crab off any docks in Bellingham? Also is there a place to rent crab rings?
