The bus terminal is right downtown on the east end of Railroad Ave.

Description:
Whatcom Transportation Authority forms the core of public transportation, not only for Bellingham, but Whatcom County as well. Buses originate at the bus terminal on Railroad Avenue downtown and serves Bellingham with routes to Ferndale, Lynden and Blaine. WTA also offers specialized transportation for the elderly, people with disabilities and offers vanpools as well.

Bus schedules may be obtained downtown at the WTA terminal or grab a route map from any one of its individual buses. Frequency depends upon area but buses typically run every half-hour for most routes. Generally, most buses pass through the transit terminal on Railroad at the midpoint on their routes. Transfers are not free but considering the low cost of riding, the price for the second fare is not unreasonable. The Web site also offers a complete schedule of routes online, with common destinations and maps for commuters to find the route they need. If all this is of no help to the would-be bus rider, you can call 676-RIDE and get personalized help figuring out which buses you need to take to get from A to B.

Other services by WTA include Dial-A-Ride, where persons can call and make a reservation to have a van pick them up at any location much like a taxi. Eligibility restrictions are minimal, but you should call ahead to determine availability in your area. The cost is the same as a bus fare, 50-cents. WTA also maintains a fleet of vans for carpools, which are leased to commuter groups who pay a fee based on daily travel distance and number of passengers.

I don't know if the WTA is funded through property taxes, but if so, I'm extremely interested in knowing that some of these funds (which I've paid dearly for and it now pricing me out of my home and am in desparate need to budget) are going towards improvement or at least providing bus service in Blaine, WA. I live at Birch Bay and work at the Border. I've seen buses, however, they are routed to provide services from Bellinham residents to Blaine. There are no available services for the residents of Blaine. Please receive my comment as a reason to improve Blaine services. Thanks, Kim Newell

This webpage is a waste of time. I clicked on on all your links and can't get a map or a schedule.

Very disappointed to learn that it takes three buses go get from Sudden Valley to WWU! No wonder many of the busses run nearly empty.
