Description:
Guiseppe’s Italian Restaurant is in the heart of downtown Bellingham, but it’s where I like to go when I want to feel as if I’m somewhere else. When I walk through the front doors and up the wide and gracious stairs to the front desk of Guiseppe’s Restaurant, Bellingham has been left behind. The high ceilings, the ornate fountain in the stately foyer, the Italian Opera (or live piano) playing in the background and the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen all help send me to Italy. And this all happens before I’ve even been seated.

Being seated is one of the other things I love about going to Guiseppe’s. I get a small thrill from the feeling of curiosity and anticipation that comes from wondering which of the three dining areas the hostess will lead me into. Two of Guiseppe’s dining spaces are grand, impressive and sumptuous, with warm ochre paint and exposed brick walls flickering in candlelight. The third is a smaller room at the front of the restaurant. It’s a more intimate space, with a lovely and stately looking fireplace at one end of the room, and it’s every bit as stunning as the larger rooms. Having dined in all three rooms (as well as the cozy and comfortable bar), I can never decide which is my favorite.

Once seated in a lovely dining room at a candlelit table, I remember that the real reason I’ve come to Guiseppe’s is, after all, to eat. Luckily I can start in right away, dipping their good, fresh bread into the wonderful oil and vinegar served with it, complete with garlic, basil, a bit of hot pepper marinating in it. As I chew my bread, I consider the menu. Guiseppe’s has a generous selection of salads, pasta dishes and main courses (as well as beautifully-presented and tasty desserts, which I always have to take into account as I decide on dinner). Classics like Gnocchi, Linguine with Clam Sauce and Lasagne are represented, as well as Pan-Roasted Duck, Rack of Lamb and Veal. Guiseppe’s does a wonderful job with their sauces, which always seem to be complex and flavorful without being overpowering.

Once I’ve made my decision I can relax and absorb the ambience of the place, relishing both my meal, and the feeling that I’m "somewhere else". When I’ve finished, and have trotted back down the steps and opened the double doors out onto Bellingham again, I’m always a bit surprised it isn’t Italy, but I’m happy to see it all the same.

I LOVE the food at Giuseppe's. Whenever friends or family come in to town and I want to impress I take them to Giuseppe's. Fabulous wine list as well.

All I have to say is that Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant is the most remarkable dining experience that you can have in Bellingham. I recommend it to anyone, whether you are looking for an amazing dinner, a cocktail or just a quick appetizer, this is the place. Thank you Giuseppe for making Bellingham that much better.

I've eaten at Giuseppe's several times and although the food isn't half bad the service and drinks are horrible. For the amount you pay you would expect alot more food. I ordered a lemon drop martini and it tasted like pure vodka. A friend of mine that goes there quite often for co. meetings gets sick everytime she eats there. Not reccomended for good Italian....prefer D'Anna's...

This is one of the best places to eat in Bellingham.
