Description:
There are two great reasons to visit this deli. The first is that the sandwiches are so fresh that the bread sticks to the roof of your mouth. The second reason is that the early morning opening at 6 a.m. makes it possible to grab a picnic lunch to take to the mountains on a weekend, or pick up something to get you through the workday. Actually, there are more than just two reasons to go to Our House Deli.

Whole or half sandwiches can be made to order. The deli has a choice of 13 different meats, from honey-baked ham to homemade meatloaf, seven cheeses and seven kinds of bread. Extra meat, cheese or avocado can be added to any creation. Our House also offers hot sandwiches like the French Dip and Rueben, and "Special" Sandwiches such as the Bagel Sandwich. The Veggie Delight features avocado, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and onions. Be careful when ordering a salad because the portions are obscenely large. It’s like someone thought you might starve with lettuce as a main ingredient in a meal, so the Caesar, taco, chef, tuna, chicken and shrimp salads are piled as high as possible. Inexpensive combination lunches are available and include a half-deli sandwich and soup or salad. The deli also serves breakfast.

Located in a humble building on James Street, Our House is not hard to find, but might be a bit of a long noontime walk for those who work Downtown. Our House features limited delivery, phone-in orders, and catering.

I dine quite frequently at Our House; it is such a fine establishment. The employees are so generous in their preparation of my pastrami/avacado/swiss sandwhich on wheat bread without the onions I feel as if Our House is my house too! So remember, whenever you are thinking hmmmmm... perhaps today I'll have a Smoked Turkey/Harvarti/cranberry/sandwhich on sourdough bread with extra pickles, come to the deli that brings it all home, OUR HOUSE!
