Description:
Fino Wine Bar & Fine Food is one of Bellingham’s most unique dining experiences. A note at the top of the menu reads: "a grazing menu for wine lovers: appetizers, tapas, hors d’oeuvres, raciones, antipasti and other small plates." The idea is that one can eat lightly by selecting one small item, or combine dishes by sharing them or ordering more than one. Grilled scallop salad with champagne-chive vinaigrette, petite steak with cabernet demi glace and buttermilk potatoes, veal scaloppini with proscuitto and fresh sage, herb roasted halibut with lillet butter sauce are just a few of the little meals. Twenty other entrées are on the menu and though not one may sound familiar, they are delicious.

The restaurant overlooks the water at the Chrysalis Inn and Spa in Fairhaven, so expect as much ambiance as you can handle: a gorgeous view complete with sunset, tinkling jazz in the background, and tiny beaded lamps that hang from the ceiling casting a spotlight on the table and putting an attractive glow on your date’s face. Wait, that could be the wine.

The shape of the wine glass you are given varies depending on whether you have ordered red or white wine. Aperitif wines, wine cocktails, and sparkling wines are available. Half of the restaurant is a dining room with the full menu, and the other half is referred to as the "library," ostensibly because there are copies of wine magazines on the wall. The library is devoted to wine and snacks. A snack menu is available full of affordable "silverware-free nibbles" all $5 or less. The bruschetta with mushroom butter and arugula was good enough to have a second order placed before the first was finished. The library is a great place for those who want to catch the sunset and a glass of wine before jetting off somewhere else. Fino also has outdoor dining for lunch and dinner, weather permitting.

I really enjoyed my duck and the wines they have by the glass. Cuvée Silex- MMM. I think they should set the table w/o the wine glasses to encourage people to buy wines by the glass instead of a bottle. To me, that is the purpose of wine bars. Nevertheless, highly reccomended.

I was 110% impressed with the service and food. Normally when restaurant managers and servers see three college students walk in they have a different tone. When my boyfriend, his best friend and I walked into Fino we were greeted and welcomed with a great tone. The servers continued with that attitude, the entire time we were thers. The food was great and the view was beautiful, but the service was something you just don't find anymore. I have been telling my friends and co-workers about Fino and will continue to do so.

The vegetarian menu (wow a whole page) has some very tempting towers of roasted vegetables and portobello mushroom risotto to besot you!
