Directions
Across from Bellis Fair Mall, the restaurant is located in Meridian Plaza, right in the middle of the parking lot.
Description:
The interior decorator at Mi Mexico has a sick sense of humor. The dining booths are hot pink, the walls are peach and green, and every once in awhile the eyes are helplessly drawn to a bunch of multi-colored fabric flowers. But on a Sunday evening the Meridian Plaza restaurant was packed and there was a wait for a table, so the decorating scheme was clearly not an issue.
The droves of people were gathered at Mi Mexico for the tasty Mexican food and they brought their kids, grandparents, and friends. The large menu has everything you would expect and a little more. Picky eaters will appreciate the choice of either corn or flour tortillas or shredded beef or ground beef. Kids will appreciate that there is a children’s Mexican meal offered and some American food on the menu, like cheese sandwiches. Adults will like the full portions, and especially the extensive drink selections. There are six different kinds of reasonably priced margaritas available (regular, flavored, gold, Cadillac, Chambord and Italian,) as well as mixed drinks, Mexican beer and wine.
As you would expect, the wait staff is fast and standing by with baskets full of warm chips and salsa before you can even sit down. The food is brought to your table quickly and the kitchen is a maze of artful moves by the servers, who reach over and under each other like ballet dancers with scalding hot plates. Flan, sopapillas, and ice cream are on the menu for dessert. One word of warning, if you are celebrating a special occasion, you may be asked to don a gigantic sombrero and someone might try to take your picture.

This place is the most pathetic excuse for mexican food out there. Now, they don't advertise that its authentic, because clearly its not. The sauces are obviously from a can, not make at the resturant. Everything is poorly and quickly made rather than taking the time for quality. The tamalies were a laugh. I literally laughed when i tasted how bad they were. Tacos? i make better tacos at home. The chicken? not good. Don't mistake this place for a mexican resturant, as it is an american place pretending to attempt to look/feel mexican. Note to yourself, if they have a cheeseburger on the menu... the mexican dishes aren't going to be very good.

Having recently moved to Canada from New Mexico, we were dying for some comida autentica, and were happy and lucky to find Mi Mexico on a day trip from Vancouver. The margarita original helped in absolutely every way. And los frijoles? They are heaven. Judge a place by its beans. Mi Mexico has 'em.

Our family loves Mi Mexico!!! It's our favorite restaurant. Not just our favorite Mexican Restaurant. They have a wide variety of meals and I am constantly finding something new to try. True, they do cater to the "Gringo" taste buds, but they have salsa and chili's to add if you want them. I love their enchilada sauce!!! Our extended family and many of our friends love their food and we go their often. And I love the decor of their new site!!

OH MY GOSH! I went to Mi Mexico near Bellis Fair lastnight with a large group. Or should I say AFTER we ate I was with a LARGE group!? LOL. The decor is viva la mexico, real mexican staff, not overly friendly but did their job duties well. I had a margarita and pigged out on natcho chips and dip then made the mistake of ordering a "large" combo #21. I was busting at the seems after eating about two thirds of it. Eat large combos only if you already are a large person! The food was excellento! I highly recommend it with no problemo's! Adios amigo's, I'll be back! :)

I've been to many Mexican restaurants throughout the world, (including some of the best little taquieras in So. Cal) and I found the food and service at Mi Mexico to be mediocre at best. I don't understand how people are rating this as some of the best Mexican food in Bellingham much less Western Washington. The food was bland and near flavorless. We tried a variety of dishes that night and not one even came close to meeting my standards for "good" Mexican food. Last I checked Mexican food is supposed to have at least SOME flavor.

I have tried the Pollo ala Crema at many restaurants and not one can compare to this wonderful dish at Mi Mexico. I compare anywhere I go with Mi Mexico. Having recently moved out of state, I miss it terribly and don't know if I'll ever find it anywhere better. Great food all around at this restaurant!

I have been going to this restaurant for a few yrs. On most occasions it has been a good experience. Recently though I had a very bad one. I was charged for something I didn't order and the waiter refused to fix my bill. The item was double the price of what I ordered but noone including the girl at the payment counter seemed to care even when I told them I would never come back.
sincerely unhappy

Mi Mexico is the most incredible Mexican restaurant in all of Bellingham, and all of Western Washington maybe, too. Every dish is perfectly delectable and authentic to its south of the border roots. Having spent a lot of time in Mexico, my husband and I love how authentic Mi Mexico's menu is, none of the typical Tex-Mex spinoffs. Their staff are all true Mexicans which adds to the authenticity as well. If you haven't been to Mi Mexico yet, you haven't tasted real Mexican cuisine. And by the way, to whoever wrote the review, I happen to love their decorating scheme, it is very similar to most restaurants in Mexico and makes me feel, combined with the employees and the food, like I am south of the border again when I am in Mi Mexico.
