The immaculately maintained course offers spectacular views of Mount Baker as well as the course itself. Fairway accuracy is the key to playing Shuksan, as long rough and even longer perimeter areas make finding your ball difficult if you happen to hook or slice. To add to the challenge, Shuksan has ponds, wetlands and creeks throughout the course (they come into play on 16 of the 18 holes) as well as multiple sand traps. Average golfers will want to load up with extra balls (I'd recommend between 6 and 12) from the fully equipped pro shop before playing.

The elevation change from hole to hole is another of Shuksan’s challenging features. Virtually every hole has up, down, or side slopes along the fairways and many have elevated greens or tees which adds to the diversity and interest of the course. Only the hardiest of golfers will want to walk this course. Golf carts are definitely the way to go. The course also has a driving range and two putting greens that give golfers plenty of opportunity to warm up before hitting the links.

If you get faint from hunger while out on the course you can order food from a restaurant off the ninth tee and have it waiting for you before you reach the 10th. Drinks are also available on the course from a beverage cart. The Club’s restaurant and banquet facilities in the impressive clubhouse are a popular location for large group events.

With its variety of challenges on each hole, well-maintained greens and fairways, spectacular setting and degree of difficulty, Shuksan is a golf course you'll definitely want to experience again and again.
