Description:
There is a reason why Boomer’s Drive-in is always busy. It might be the blast-from-the-past, 50s appeal. It may be the location of a drive-in on a former cruising strip. However, the safe bet would have to be the great burgers and shakes that everyone thinks about as they drive by the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant is a small dining area with a fireplace, which seems at odds with the mural of a hamburger and splattering mustard. However, this isn’t where most of the food gets eaten. Boomer’s is a true drive-in with the stalls and lighted signs next to the car windows so patrons can peruse the menu. You turn your lights on when you’re ready to order. No, there aren’t mini-skirt-clad carhops on roller skates but the staff always has some cute young guys and gals. Kids’ meals come in cardboard pink Cadillac boxes in another nod to the 50s feel of the business.

As the flying neon burger in the window indicates, the main business of the place is hamburgers: big hamburgers and good hamburgers. You can get them any way you want, with Swiss, teriyaki, mushrooms, honey Dijon and a variety of other choices. If you can’t handle the beef try out the veggie, fish and chicken options. That isn’t to say that there are all kinds of fancy, yuppie treats on the menu, mind you. The rest of the menu is purely milkshakes and waffle fries, complementing great burgers.

How do you make your waffle fries?! They are tasty! But seriously, do you have a special cutter to use?

I have only had the priviledge of eating 3 times at Boomer's but I have always enjoyed it! Not only was the food great, but the staff were a treat as well. If only I lived closer and could have that Orange Cream milkshake more often, mmmmmmmm :-D

Boomers makes the best burgers in Bellingham, period. You can pay more. You can pay a lot more, but you will not get a better burger, fries or shake anywhere in town. They make burgers everyway imaginable, their waffle fries are hot and spiced with season salt and the shakes are so thick the spoon stands up in it--not to mention the endless flavors available. The price is right too! The decor inside and out is like a trip back to the 50's--a real drive-in in a world full of drive throughs.

Stopped by Boomers on the way home to my friends house in Bellevue after the Abbotsford Airshow in August. The burgers and fries were great, but the shakes were the BEST my friends and I have had in a long time. Nice and thick, and they stayed that way... didn't melt down real quick like 95 of the shakes you order these days do. Big thumbs up and if/when I am in Bellingham again I will return to Boomers.

Boomer is OK. For some reason, some people really think it is the shiat. I'd give their food a 6 or 7 out of 10. Waffle fries are good though.

Boomers is abosolutely amazing!! Seriously, the best burgers in town, and they're a really good price! And the waffles fries are best things ever invented!

I spent many a rainy day around the fireplace at Boomer's over the years. The mushroom Swiss burger with waffle fries and a strawbery shake is my favorite combo. There are not many drive ins like this left, and Boomer's does it right. I do wish the sit down portion of Boomer's was bigger but you can't have everything. I recommend you try boomer's if you are able to.
